GARRY WILLIAMS | BARRISTER

Garry Williams is an independent barrister with more than 25 years' experience of civil and commercial litigation.

He is a founding member of Richmond Chambers, the specialist advocacy and advisory set located in the General Buildings on the corner of Shortland and O'Connell Streets in the heart of Auckland's CBD and legal precinct.

He acts for plaintiffs and defendants across a broad range of contentious legal matters.

Regarded as pragmatic and robust, Garry offers clients strong commercial judgment, excellent analytical skills and clear legal and strategic guidance.   He is an able advocate, having appeared many times in New Zealand's superior courts and specialist tribunals.

Garry accepts instructions in most areas of civil litigation and has particular expertise in intellectual property related matters.

He is client and resolution focused, and is committed to providing timely and efficient service.

In 2017 the World Trademark Review named Garry in its list of leading trade mark practitioners saying he has an "impeccable reputation on the IP scene" and that "clients flock to Richmond Chambers' Williams for his crystal clear plans of attack".

Doyle's Guide also recommends him for intellectual property, and technology, media and telecommunications disputes in New Zealand.

Garry is a member of the Training and Diversity Committees of the New Zealand Bar Association and is also a member of both the New Zealand and Trans-Tasman Committees of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).

He has been on the Faculty of the NZLS Litigation Skills Programme since 2012.
